Most American (70%) wish they could control something in their house without getting out of bed or off the sofa. Lowe's 2014 Smart Home survey found that 44% of us would like to adjust the thermostat, 39% wants to turn on the lights, and 27% wants the coffee maker to start before getting up in the morning.
Here some other interesting numbers reported:
50% prefer do-it-yourself automated solutions, as opposed to 21% who prefer professionally installed/monitored services
62% believe smart homes are most beneficial for monitoring safety and security
35% cite overall convenience
29% say protection from fire, floods and disasters
56% says the cost or fees are the most important factor in their purchase decision.
49% wish their home would be the perfect temperature when they get home.
37% wish the lights would be on
27% wish the doors would be unlocked.
